The spoon he was born with was not silver; it was golden. He went to private schools and expensive universities. He spent three summers in Europe in his teens. He lived a life of privilege and he was never allowed to forget it. What he did get to do was live his own life. Outwardly, he slotted neatly into the roles his family wanted him to fill. Inwardly, he drove himself quietly crazy. Not literally. When his father died a few years ago, his mother "retired" to Florence, Italy, leaving Riley a generous portion of his inheritence, and the house in Boulder. Though he'd been a member of the Company before she left, with her out of the picture, he was more free to explore his less genteel side. All in all, and after several near-disastrous encounters with people who claimed to be involved in the scene, he lucked into someone who knew about the Power Company, got an introduction, and has been happily attending demos and munches for the past seven years.
